Riparian Vegetation Density Mapping of an Extremely Densely Vegetated Confined Floodplain

The most crucial function of lowland-confined floodplains with low slopes is to support flood conveyance and fasten floods; however, obstacles can hinder it. management riparian vegetation often neglected, though woody species increase the roughness levels. aims are (1) determine branch density various types in zone up level artificial levees (up 5 m), (2) assess spatial distribution densely vegetated patches. Applying a decision tree machine learning, six were identified an accuracy 83%. was determined within each type by applying normalized relative point (NRD) method. Besides, calculated submerged (1–2 m, 2–3 etc.). Thus, for floods frequencies mapped. In study area, young poplar plantations offer favorable conditions, whereas invasive Amorpha thickets dense stands native willow forests provide worst conditions conveyance. Dense very patches common all zones; thus, could heavily influence floods.
